Day 9
Hola amigos!
Today we got dropped off at our first homestays in the community La Argentina. We are staying on “fincas” (farms) for three nights and four days. Each finca has a different focus such as dairy, tilapia, poultry or bamboo. Every home contains at least three students. While there we will parttake in the typical farm routine. This may include milking cows, collecting eggs or planting trees. This will be a wonderful time to improve our Spanish skills and to learn about the lifestyles of a Costa Rican famer. The houses are all along the same main road but some require quite the hike. One house has one hundred stairs to climb down through the rainforest, past waterfalls; another has about a mile and a half trek. Though these may not seem very tasking, it gets tiring with all of our equipment…but is so very worth it! For these next few days, we all look forward to being further enriched with the delightful culture of Costa Rica.
